Two Day Professional Audition Workshop

Grades: 5th-12th
Location: Hanifl Performing Arts Center
4941 Long Ave
White Bear Lake, MN 55110
Dates: November 17 & 19
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Cost:  $45.00
Director: Vanessa Agnes

Are you preparing to audition for theaters around the Twin Cities? Are you looking for feedback and insight from theatre professionals? This 2-day intensive is for you!

Join us on November 17 & 19. Workshop your audition pieces and sharpen your skills on day one. Get real-time feedback from a panel of theatre professionals during a mock audition on day two!

This 2-day workshop will leave you feeling confident, prepared and ready to take on your next audition!

Students should come prepared with the following:

  • Two contrasting musical theatre songs, preferably a ballad and an up-tempo. (If you do not already have 16 and 32 bar cuts, we can help with this on day one)
  • One age appropriate 60 second monologue
  • Theatre resume
  • Headshot (does not need to be a professional headshot - a nice, neutral photo is just fine)
  • Dress to move

Tips:

Songs: If you have a book of music with other song options, feel free to bring it! You shouldn’t have any songs in your book that you wouldn’t feel comfortable singing in an audition if someone asked you on the spot.

Monologue: If you would like to bring a second, contrasting monologue, you may. Contrast can be dramatic vs comedic, contemporary vs period, etc. Always choose your monologue from a play/musical. (Do not search “monologues” and choose something random from the internet.) You should read or be familiar with the show your monologue is from so that you have context when working the piece. A good audition starts with good research!

Headshot/Resume: Industry standard is a one page resume with your headshot attached back to back. (Resume on one side, headshot on the other - glue, tape or staple them together neatly!)
All sales are final.   No refunds or credits will be granted for non-attendance.
This workshop will be on-site at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center!

We are excited to announce that this camp will still be in person with safety protocols in place.

Things CPA is doing to ensure safety:
  • All door handles will be sanitized prior to arrival
  • Program will be limited to 8 students
  • Safety drop-off – CPA staff will come out to your car to greet and take the temperature of your student and verify students have been symptom free
  • Students will sanitize/wash hands upon arrival
  • Programming will be outside when weather permitting (not too hot or raining.)
  • When inside, we will be in our large classrooms which allows for social distancing
  • Each student is to bring their own labeled water bottle. All personal items will be socially distanced as well
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is encouraging all Americans — even people who feel healthy — to wear cloth face masks or homemade face coverings in public when 6-feet social distancing is difficult to maintain in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19. CPA will do our best to provide more than enough space to allow for social distancing. Masks are encouraged for situations when students cannot maintain 6 ft of distance. Students must provide their own mask/face covering.
